When the gods go missing, it's up to Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude to find them. They'll have to fight monsters, wrestle with their own demons, and uncover the secrets the gods have held for millennia if they hope for success. Dimitri is missing, and Felix is determined to look for him. All signs point to the wizard Byleth Eisner having some answers, but chasing after one demon invites the attention of another, and Rhea curses him old to slow him down. Undeterred, Felix catches up to Byleth's moving castle and makes a deal with her fire demon Sothis to break their contract in exchange for breaking his spell and helping him unravel what happened to the missing prince.

After losing many of his family and friends to a fire, Dimitri is afraid that he will forget their faces. One day, he and his uncle Rufus find an old camera and several albums filled to the seams with pictures that his father had taken over the years. Bernadetta moves to the city after cutting ties with her family in an attempt to pursue her artist dreams. Desperate for a place to live, she signs a too-good-to-be-true lease to room with a tall, red-headed stranger who's super rich and probably a serial killer (she's convinced!). Yet, instead of a murderer, Bernadetta finds Sylvain - the biggest idiot with an "unrequited" crush on his best friend - and accidentally becomes his friend and matchmaker.

In a world where Rhea’s experiments have taken centuries longer to create a vessel for Sothis, crests are now extinct and magic only a legend. But there is more going on in the shadows of Garreg Mach than he ever expected, and the secrets around Byleth only begin with a strange sword which glows in her hands. Reluctantly pulled deeper and deeper into the opaque workings of the church, Felix struggles to trust her as they attempt to understand the mysteries around them. And more than that, he can feel a war bigger than either of them brewing on the horizon.

After the Tragedy of Duscur, Felix believes that Dimitri is like an entirely different person. He’s become violent, cruel, and completely unlike himself. Felix is validated when Dimitri reveals himself not to be the person Felix grew up with, but an imposter belonging to a group called the Agarthans. “Dimitri” forces Felix to cooperate by telling him that Dimitri is still alive, but in Agarthan captivity. When “Dimitri” drags him to Garreg Mach, he meets a member of the Golden Deer who’s eerily familiar. Felix grows close to him and learns that the white-haired young man is the real Dimitri, who had been kidnapped during the Tragedy and experimented on by Agarthans. Now that they’ve been reunited, they need to stop the imposter from taking the throne of Faerghus.
